Pearls. These smooth and lustrous fine jewelry staples are not only beautiful, but also are known to have soothing and calming effects on the human body, and promote centeredness and purity. Pearls are unlike other gems in that they are created deep beneath the ocean, inside a living mollusk. Their iridescent, subtle color make for a uniquely beautiful piece of jewelry. They have a wide range in color depending on the type and where they come from. They can range from soft pale colors from silvery white to cream to light pink, or darker shades of pale blue, to grey to black. Different colors of pearls symbolize different things: white pearls are said to represent purity, kindness and spirituality, while grey pearls bring good luck, keep away worries, and ensure success in business. The more pearls that are worn - the more beautiful they become...so the more the merrier! Pearls make the wearers complexion look much more beautiful and radiant.

How to tell if your pearls are authentic or Faux...

The Tooth Test - to some, this is the fool-proof way of authenticating your precious gems from the sea.

To perform the tooth test: Gently rub the surface of the pearl against the surface of your tooth. Generally speaking, if the pearl has a course and gritty surface it is authentic, and a smooth surface signifies a faux pearl.
