FACETS Jewelry Blog was born out of a passion for jewelry plus a big career change.

Hello Jewelry Lovers! I'm Kate. I grew up in the retail jewelry business, and have always had a passion for jewelry, but didn't always follow my passion. My father built a multi-location fine jewelry and art business in the Hawaiian Islands, and from a young age I worked in the office and out on the floor, along with assisting with buying and have been the director of special projects. Although never formally educated in the jewelry business, I always had a passion for jewelry. Even when I was working in the office doing mundane tasks of tagging jewelry - I always loved being in the presence of it - seeing all the different types of stones, designs, use of color, materials, I have always been fascinated with it. I was able to travel the globe helping with finding some of the most unique pieces. I ended up going to school for business, and interned after college for a Public Relations Firm that specialized in fine jewelry, but I ended up down a different path, working in corporate America in the healthcare and energy industries. After about 7 years in sales, I realized I wasn't doing what I was truly passionate about - and that was jewelry and fashion. I quit my job and went back to school to pursue a degree in apparel industry management at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.  Upon graduating, I attended the JCK Show to assist the family business with the jewelry buying for the stores. It was at this show that rekindled my (almost) forgotten passion for jewelry then followed that with a short apprenticeship with a fine jewelry designer and manufacturer, and  again, I was hooked. I launched a small line of fine jewelry, and shortly after launched Facets... Follow me for my adventures in jewelry!
